Best tour for evening viewing Eiffel Tower

Can anyone recommend the best way to view the Eiffel Tower at night for 70 year old couple. Thank you.

Take the metro to Trocadero and watch it from there at the top of the hour when it briefly sparkles; give yourself plenty of time as it only sparkles for 5 minutes.

Or take an after dark Seine cruise -- they are all designed to get you within sparkling range on the top of the hour.

We like to watch it from Pont Alexandre because it is such a gorgeous iconic bridge with beautiful views in all directions including the ET but that is a more distant view of the tower. There is something special though about watching it sparkle over the top of the elaborate sculptural decorations of this, the most romantic, Paris bridge.

Voting with Janet: we did that very thing. You don't need a tour just to catch that 5 minutes of sparkle.

Hahaha...well, it kind of depends on the time of year. I often stay at the Hotel Relais Bosquet on Rue du Champ de Mars. I pay extra for an ET view room then pull a chair over to the window and enjoy the sparkle at the top of the hour for 5 minutes, hahaha! When I was there recently in April the sparkle was at 9P so I could watch the 9 and 10P sparkles in my jammies, hahaha!

I will admit that I have also walked over there in the evening as the neighborhood is perfectly safe with lots of people out and about.

For reference I am 76, a solo traveler and don't live in a big city so my big city smarts are not as well-honed as others but this is very safe.

If you do want to take one of the evening cruises, my grandkids and I were in Paris in early April last year and booked the one leaving from the Pont Neuf. We booked tickets for the 8:15 pm cruise, and sunset was at 8:30 pm that evening. We arrived at the Eiffel Tower around 8:45 pm, in time for the sparkles and shimmering lights. You want it to be dark by the time you get to the Eiffel Tower. https://www.vedettesdupontneuf.com/home

If you want a quick look at what we saw, here is a page from my online journal, aka blog (no ads) 😊 It has a picture of the sparkling Tower and a description of what we did and what you'll see as you're on the cruise. https://mostlytraveled.wordpress.com/2025/04/11/day-twelve-a-visit-with-mona-and-an-evening-cruise/

Listen to Janet and Kate. The best view is from the Trocadero. It's still my favorite view after many visits.

One thing to be mindful of. While the Trocadero is indeed a terrific place to view the ET from, be careful with your belongings and make sure you’re pickpocket-proof. It can be crowded and there likely will be a few bad actors in the vicinity.
