Best Time to Eiffel Tower with ticket

I am purchasing tickets to the Eiffel Tower for Aug. 24 up to the Summit. I am trying to decide between choosing the time of 18:30 (6:30 pm) or 21:00 (9pm). I suppose 6:30 pm might be better so I can hang out until sunset at 8:48pm so I can see Paris lit up. I didn't know how long it takes to go up to the top even with advance purchased tickets. Any thoughts?

I'd go early and experience dusk; best of both worlds. It will take you quite a while to go from 2 to 3 -- the lines there in high season can be over an hour.
