Best time for Louvre, Monday afternoon or Wednesday morning?

We get to Paris on a Monday afternoon at 1pm (Eurostar from London) & leave Paris 2:20pm Wednesday (train to Brussels) Our Paris hotel is 4 blocks from the Louvre. What would be better (less busy & less lines) going to the Louvre Monday afternoon or wait till Wednesday morning. I was also thinking of getting a museum pass, 2 day & use it to skip lines at the Louvre on Monday afternoon and use it all day on Tuesday (I know it starts the day you first use it) & then finish with free stuff on Wednesday.

Louvre is closed on Tuesdays, but Orsay is open.

Since many museums, including the Orsay, are closed Mondays, the Louvre might be busier then than on Wednesday morning.

I know what days things are open or closed. I was just asking when might be the better time to go to the Louvre. Monday afternoon or Wednesday morning. Thanks

The museum pass lets you skip the ticket buying line, but not the security line, so you'll still have to be in line for a bit anyway. On Monday they are open until 7:30 so you may have more time to give it going on Monday afternoon rather then Weds morning, depending on when you have to leave to get to your train to Brussels.

Wednesday morning. The Louvre is extremely busy on Mondays because most other museums are closed.

Nancy - I can't find anything that says the Louvre is open until 7:30 on Monday

Louvre open until 6 pm on Mondays and opens at 9 am on Wednesday.

Some doors are open until 7:30 pm on Mondays. Probably because the stores are open.

I would go Monday afternoon but check website for room closures. If there are particular things you want to see, start with the farthest and work your way to the exits.

The security lines are shortest at Porte des Lions and the Carrousel (underground). Longest at Pyramid. Exit through Pyramid if it's open.

So they kick you out of the museum at 6pm. Thanks, I don't care about the stores.
