Greetings, I have tried to figure this out on my own but am uncertain. I want to go immediately to Versailles from Charles de Gaulle airport. Can someone describe for me what the transfer through Paris would be like with luggage. I had hoped I could store my luggage but don’t want to travel back to the airport after Versailles. I will arrive 14/08, have reservations for 2 nights in Versailles, then will travel to Fountainebleau on 16/08 to join a tour. Do all roads lead through Paris? Thank you for your advice
All rails lead through Paris, which is the way to do this, I think. Take the RER B3 line from CDG to St-Michel, then change to the RER C5 to Versailles Rive Gauche (not Versailles Chantiers). Then a taxi to your hotel unless it's close to the station. This should take about 90 minutes. I think the stations are barrier-free so your bags shouldn't be too hard to manage.
This website tells you all you'll ever want to know about the RER and other local rail in and around Paris. The fare from CDG into Paris is 11.80 euros per person. There may be an additional fare to Versailles but it won't be a lot.
