We will end our Eastern France tour in Aix-en-Provence. We would like to take some tours to cover other areas. Any suggestions of where to go and who provides them?
How long are you staying? What do you like to do? Are you flying home from Marsielle? Having just come off a structured tour would you consider some independent travel? We finished our Loire and South of France tour in Nice. We rented a car, drove to Lourmarin where we rented an apartment for a week. We did day trips to the small towns and villages of the Luberon. We speak no French other than the 10 or so words you must know and got along just fine.
Rent a car. I can’t imagine seeing Provence any other way. You will need a break from being “on a tour.” Go at your own pace.
Look at St-Remy, Egalieres, Menerbes, Gordes, Rousillion, Loumarin, Bonnieux and chose a few to visit/stay.
Book with AutoEurope.com and get an IDP from a AAA office. Enjoy Provence!
And also visit Arles and Avignon, lots to see and do.
Totally agree with Alan and Suki.
After three weeks of touring several countries, we based ourselves in a cottage in St Remy. It was the perfect location for day trips including Les Baux. St Remy was large enough to have a choice of shops and dining options, but small enough to retain its charm. We did visit some of the larger towns and were so glad we had chosen St. Remy as our base.
We also rented a car from Avis in Nice using Autoeurope.
