I can't remember the two buildings in Paris which provide a great view of the city and the Eiffel Tower. Can someone remind me, please? Our grandson will be on his honeymoon and want to tell him. Thank you
Maybe the Montparnasse Tower and the Arc de Triomphe?
The advantage of seeing this view from the Montparnasse Tower is, you don't have to look at the Montparnasse Tower.
The other famous place for a great view of the city is from the steps of Sacre-Coeur in Montmartre.
The Trocadero Gardens in front of Palais de Chaillot for an eyeful of the Eiffel.
Also, Notre Dame church tower as well as the rooftop of Galleries Lafayette where they can enjoy a bite to eat.
I agree with one of the above responses. The view from one of the towers of Notre Dame is really good. You can frame the picture with a gargoyle in the foreground and the Seine River and Eiffel Tower in the background.
Another great view of the city is the rooftop of the Arc de la Defense.
Best place to see the Eiffel Tower (especially on a honeymoon) is with a bottle of wine, cheese, and baguette in park just adjacent to the tower. I don't remember the name. (Parc des Champs ??)
Agree with Nick, the Grande Arche at la Defense gives a great view of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, but access to the roof is closed until some time in 2017.
Many photos of the Eiffel are snapped from the steps and plaza of the Trocadero, across the Seine bridge. For example: http://www.paris-photos.org/trocadero.php
There is an observation deck on Montarnasse Tower and a restaurant.
Trocadéro is okay (we stay nearby) but there is construction on the terrace blocking half the view and the east stairs. It is very crowded but less so if you go down the west stairs.
I've heard that the view from the restaurant at the Musée de Quai Branly is amazing. It's called the Shadow (or somerhing similar en français) because it's in the shadow of the tower. It's pricey but honeymoon-worthy from the reviews.
There's also a restaurant in the west side of the Palais de Chaillot at Trocadéro. No admission charge to go to the restaurant according to the sign outside.
