Best place to drop off a rental car in Paris from dordogne

Hi. We’ll be driving from dordogne region (southwest)of France to Paris on a Saturday afternoon in June. We’d like to return the car at an easy spot. We haven’t reserved the car yet so any suggestions on who to rent from would be welcome, too.

We picked up a car at a rental place near the Porte d'Orleans metro stop, so we were able to take the metro from our lodging, walk a few blocks to the rental place, and then enter the south going freeway toward Loire (and then Dordogne). This worked well to avoid driving in the city. You could try Googling car rental agencies and see which is closest to the perimeter AND a metro stop...

The easiest place to drop off coming from the south would be near Porte d´Orléans.

On A6a approaching the périphérique (the ring round around Paris), stay in the far right-hand lane which gives direct access to Porte d´Orléans and avenue du Général Leclerc. Within a few hundred meters of Porte d´Orléans, you´ll find rental office for Sixt, Avis, and Europcar.

ORY is next to A6 and might work for you but you´ll then need to take a taxi in to Paris; 30€/35€ for destinations in the Left/Right Bank respectively.

After turning around the five different garage structures in the dark at Montparnasse to return a rental car, our next car was left at Orly and we splurged on the 30 euros to take us directly to our address. Driving in Paris isn't an issue; we both have French drivers licenses and have driven in Paris many times. This wasn't the first time this has happened; once Gare du Nord garage was hidden from us and we were living in that neighborhood! Finding the way to the dang return address isn't always so easy. Yes, we had GPS and Maps. Orly is our go-to coming from the south.

Are you driving straight through, or will you be doing some touring between Dordogne and Paris ? Two hours on TGV from Bordeaux.

We always drop at Orly and take a cab for 30 Euro to the apartment we use. But we are elderly and are willing to do what it takes to make life easier at this point. It is a struggle to carry even small suitcases up and down stairs in the metro.
