best paris metro pass

What days of the week? I ask because the Navigo Decouverte runs from Monday to Sunday, so if you come in on a Friday this is not going to work for you.

The Navigo Découverte is just a card at 5€. There are a number of pass options available that can be loaded onto the card. Please specify what days of the week you are traveling, how you plan to transport to/from the airport or clarify if it is not applicable, and if you plan any other out of Paris travel besides Versailles.

As you did not specify how or if you are traveling to/from airports, I will assume airport transportation is either not a factor or you are using taxis. It is an important detail.

The weekly zone 1-5, Navigo pass at 22.80€ is only sold Monday through Thursday of the current week for use during the current week, Monday through Sunday. Arriving Saturday, if you were to purchase a Navigo Découverte card and load a weekly pass, the pass would not be usable until Monday.

Your best transportation solution will likely be to purchase a Navigo Easy card (2€) and load it with 10 or 20 tickets t+ for 14.90€ per group of 10. The ticket t+ is valid for one way travel on the RER within Paris (zone 1), and on the bus, tramway, métro, and funicular.

Tickets from Montparnasse to Gare Versailles, Rive Gauche cost 3.65€.
