My husband and I will be taking the 7-Day Best of Paris tour in September 2025. We are looking for restaurant recommendations for the evenings when dinner is NOT included on the tour. From my research, it looks like "free" evenings will be on Day 2 (Latin Quarter), Day 4 (Marais District), and Day 5 (either Versailles or Paris). Also, can anyone tell me if dinner on Day 5 would be better spent in Versailles (are there dinner options?) or Paris? I'm a bit foggy on that one.
What kind of food are you looking for, and what's your budget range?
Where does your tour stay? You may want to return to "your" neighborhood for dinner.
There are some restaurants in Versailles. Since you are on your own after the guided tour of the palace ends it will be up to you and you can decide at the time what seems like fun. I think I stayed until 530 or 6 when I went (before Covid) and then made my way back to Paris.
Looking for "good" food. As each of the days explore a different aspect of Paris, I guess we're looking for restaurants or cafes that highlight food of the area. Budget is $-$$$
I've been on one RS tour (Rome). The guide provided many suggestions of local restaurants. A couple of my favorites in Paris are L'As du Fallafel, in Marais, and Le Saint-Victor, in the Latin Quarter. Maybe we've been lucky, but we've never had a bad meal in France, except for the food at a restaurant on Mont Saint Michel.
In the Latin Quarter (eastern side) is Hugo & Co which is really good modern French. Must reserve ahead.
In the Marais, there's Robert et Louise, an old traditional place with spit roasted meats. Le MaZenay for modern French. or JaJa in the northern end. Pain, Vin, Fromages if you want fondue and raclettes.
Versailles does have some good dinner options if you're staying late (after 7pm).
Our evenings at Le P'tit Troquet, have been very enjoyable. Small bistro; excellent service, food and price point. It is not located in Latin Quarter or Marais, but may be an option for your day 5.
If you are serious about food, these restaurants are absolutely fabulous and very much in demand. I would reserve 2 to 3 weeks in advance:

sheilaann,
We enjoyed lunch at Breizh Cafe. There are more than one in Paris. Breton crepes are the featured items...savory, excellent, moderately priced, popular with the locals. We ate at the one in St. Germain. Recommended by others oin the forum. They are open for dinner Balso. Breton crepes are one of the classic items in France.
Bon appetit!
also, not Balso!
I went to Paris many times and you have restaurants at every corner, so very difficult to make choices. I had Paris By Emy as my travel planner and she has a great list of restaurants. https://parisbyemy.com/best-restaurants-in-paris/
Good page for foodie, from brasseries to Michelin star, you will find great suggestions.
Versailles has very nice little restaurants, nearby the cathedral. I can't remember the names but this should not be an issue for you to find a nice place to eat in Versailles.
I'm not a foodie, but I enjoyed these for Italian. They both have solid reviews.
You'll have no problem finding "good food" in Paris!
