Best of Eastern France Tour

Hi All, has anyone been on the Eastern France tour in the last couple of years?
I want to ask how the hotels were?
I’ve been on 14 Rick Steves tours and the hotels have always been good, great, or once in a while; spectacular. Okay, maybe a few just okay hotels, but I can only remember one or two duds….until this last tour I took this June. Two of the hotels were very good, one was dirty and in need of maintenance. Three of the hotels weren’t even in Rick’s books. The breakfast and the lobby areas in these hotels were nice, but the rooms seriously sub-standard.
As I said, this never happened before, so I wanted to check to see how the hotels are on this tour before I booked it.
Thanks
Cheryl

I went on this fantastic tour in Sept. 2024. I can vouch for all the hotels - that they were very nice, some charming and quaint but all were clean and had helpful staff and great breakfast buffets. The hotel in Aix was more like a resort hotel, quite nice. This is one of the best tour I have taken. I just finished my 14th tour this June, the Best of Switzerland.

We went in 2022, so a few years ago. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to take this tour. Some of the hotels were spectacular, in the RS way of being old/characteristic/lovely (Beaune for example.) All were OK or much better than that, with the least enjoyable one being in Vaison-la-Romaine (small room, very minimal surfaces to put things, wet bathroom due to no shower curtain or door) BUT the hotel was right in the center of things and the town was charming. With all the tours you've taken, you are bound to hit a dud now and then (and I realize RS sometimes has to move hotel bookings last minute.) So, not to minimize your one experience, it is far from the norm.
