Husband and I will be in France next month after several days in Paris we are planning to super train to the south of France for a few days. We would like to find a hidden gem of a beach, preferably worth white sand. One that the locals prefer and is not too touristy.
Thank you
Most beaches are rocky or cobbled along fr riveria.
The south of France is a big area. Are you talking the Riviera, Provence, going towards Spain? I spent a week in Canet en Roussillon, located on the coast north of Spain. It's near Perpignan. The beach there is sandy. I think it's mostly French people that go there. In my opinion the beach was nice but the town was past its prime. We also went to a beach about 9 kil. south of there called Saint- Cyprien. It had a nice sandy beach, but was more remote. You would need a car to reach it. Collioure is further south and is a really cute town reachable by train. The only drawback is the beach is rocky, not sandy.
This thread is a twin - there is another identical one running around and the only way to tell which is which is that this one does not have a small freckle on her right wrist.
There are answers in both threads.

Start listening at about minute 20 for a nice discussion about differences in coastal vacationing in France. It won't answer your question, but provides some nice prospective.
