Hi
whats the best public transprortation to the funicular ? Dad is mobility challenged so we need to minimize walking. Plan is to the little train sightseeing trolley once we get to the plaza but unsure of how best to get to the funicular. Someone mentioned bus 40 - how far is the stop from the funiculaar
thanks
diane
It depends on where you are coming from. But if your destination is Place du Tertre, the 40 has a bus stop there. No need to get off and take the funicular up. Here's a link to the RATP bus 40 route, with named stops. Compare the stops to Google Maps.

However if you want the funicular ride, get off bus 40 at Chappe stop and walk a minute or so to the base station.
We avoid the funicular which is often crammed with long lines and filled with pickpockets and walk up to Place du Tertre from Lamarck Caulaincourt metro -- walking up Ave Junot which is filled with interesting architecture and takes you by the little square with the statue of the man walking through the wall.
The metro for the funnicular would be the 2 getting off at Anvers and walking up this nightmarish street to the base of Montmartre.
Me too, Dianejay, but I don't want a bus and I don't want long lines and pickpockets. What about Uber type transportation? Are there Ubers there and do they go by a different name and an APP I need to download?
OP, if your father has mobility challenges, I can see why you would want to avoid using the Metro and then climbing the hill. So the bus is your best bet using public transportation. Otherwise, you can use a taxi (the G7 app is your best bet if you dont know where the nearest taxi stand is), or Uber or Bolt. Surge pricing could affect prices of the latter 2.
