Can anyone make recommendations for best markets along the Cote D 'Azure and into Provence as far as Avignon? Also, any recommendations for where to buy pottery?

Look in Rick's France or Provence book for a list of some of the local markets or just find them on the web. Standouts are the Nice flower, food and antique market every day, Arles' grand market on Saturday, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue's famous Sunday market with great antiques and Vaison la Romaine's impressive Tuesday market. Many other towns have scheduled days. Here are some.

I love the market in St. Remy... There are two and I think the Wed. market is the larger one. Also St. Tropez had a great market with lots of antiques and vintage clothing and jewelry.... but, they are all wonderful.
