Looking for a mid to high tier hotel in the Rue Cler area. Will need three rooms preferably with some twin beds. Will be staying 3 nights then moving to another part of Paris.
We stayed at the Le 7 Eiffel Hotel on rue Amelie the last time we were in Paris. It has a roof deck, hip modern decor. Great location. It worked fine, but don’t know if it’s the best one. Richard Williams, Serena and Venus’ father, was staying there during the French Open and was in the elevator with us! We usually rent apts.
"BEST" is probably subjective.
I've stayed in many in the area. The Hotel Relais Bosquet is more expensive than some others but is very nice and has a surprising hot breakfast that is quite good. Staff is excellent and helpful. I also like Hotel Muguet on Rue Chevert which is a couple of blocks away from Rue Cler but close enough to all the restaurants in the area. The Muguet has wonderful sheets and towels, lol. I think the owner prides herself in luxurious linens. The staff here is very nice as well.
I've only ever stayed in rooms with queen beds but most hotels have twin bed rooms. The Muguet is having some RS tours stay there this year so they for sure have twin beds.
I would define best by decent size rooms, a good breakfast, clean, nice hotel without necessarily being 5 star.
I did a review of about 5 hotels in the area over on the hotel review forum
Short version
Hotel Relais Bosquet - most expensive. Very nice. Good service Tends to be a little high priced IMHO but...
Hotel Cadran - my personal favorite More modern feel. Price varies by date so can be fairly affordable.
Hotel Beaugrency - (I think I spelled that wrong) Affordable a little old feeling but clean, good service. I'd go back
Grand Hotel L'veque OK but way over priced for what you get IMHO
Hotel Champs du Mars - NOPE ! Small rooms, rudest front desk staff ever (and it was one of the owners so no excuse) limited amenities..
Best is subjective. Research the Hotel Muget.
Rooms are small. Location is great. 10 minute walk from Ecole Militaire metro stop. Small elevator. Stairs are steap. Pack light.
5 minutes from the Invalides ( where Bonaparte’s Tomb is located ). 20 minutes to the Effiel Tower.
10-15 minutes to the Rodin Museum
Hahah....yes it IS subjective! I always feel like the elevator at Hotel Muguet is bigger than some hotel elevators. The one at Beaugency barely holds 2 people. Muguet you can get 3 on there, lol.
Oh, I forgot this one because I've never stayed there. It's Hotel Le Walt and it's usually higher than I want to pay so have not tried it. No idea on room size.
I've stayed at Hotel Champs du Mars twice and never had an issue with anybody being rude ::shrug:: The hotel was clean and cute. For what it is worth, I've found that most rooms in Paris hotels are small. Personally, not a big fan of the area (I mean, it's OK, but there are more interesting, more convenient areas IMHO) I only stayed the 2nd time because my mother wanted to stay there and she was paying LOL
Hotel de Londres Eiffel. And I am not the only one who thinks so. See https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187147-d265476-Reviews-Hotel_de_Londres_Eiffel-Paris_Ile_de_France.html
We have stayed at Hotel Beaugency twice.. rooms are small the elevator even smaller but great staff and I think a great value.
We have stayed at Hotel de Londres Eiffel twice. First time was great. Second time was an entirely different story. Room was tiny and dark; staff was not as friendly; breakfast room was cramped and food was just average.
I stayed at the Hotel Relais Bosquet. I was quite pleased. Is it the best? Who knows......
I’ve stayed at the Londres Eiffel three times (twice with RS tours). Very close to Eiffel Tower, small, clean rooms.
My current favorite is the Hotel de l’Empereur. It’s a few blocks from Rue Cler, next to Napoleon’s Tomb. Nice rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast, and close to a metro stop.
