Best driving route from Menerbes to Vaison-la-Romaine

I am re-visiting an earlier topic about best driving routes due to a change in our home base while in the Luberon area. Originally we were staying 2 nights in Roussillon, but now we are staying in Menerbes those 2 nights instead.
It was suggested that a worthwhile route from Roussillon when we leave to go the Vaison-la-Romaine would be to take an eastern route and skirt the base of Mont Ventoux, also allowing for a short sidestep to the village of Brantes, which sounds lovely.
I am wondering if that is still a good route to take given that we will now be coming from Menerbes...meaning, should we just get ourselves to Roussillon and continue from there as suggested? Or bypass Roussillon and get to the eastern route another way?

You can take D60 from Goult to Joucas (worth a 20-minute stop, it is cute and tiny) and rejoin the D943 to Sault somewhere above Lioux.

The alternative would be a more westerly Ménerbes-Gordes-Senanque Abbey-Venasque- Carpentras-Malaucene-Vaison. Very pretty as well, but the eastern route through Sault feels wilder.
