We (group of 4 adults, age 30 - 35) will be in Chamonix for 5 nights (21 - 26 April 2019). Any suggestions for day trips from Chamonix? We went to Annecy earlier this year. Perhaps Italy of Switzerland or any other suggested town in France?
Thanks
Turin is a bit more than 2 hours driving, but the tunnel has a 44€ toll each way, plus tolls in Italy. I don’t believe there is an easy train route to Turin.
Today's NY Times has a travel article - 36 Hours In Chamonix. Everything looks appealing, of course.
There are not direct train routes to anywhere very distant. But for a daytrip without luggage, it's feasible to go, say halfway around the Swiss side of Lake Geneva in 2.5 hours with 2 connections, such as to Montreux or nearby. See train schedules through the usual DB or SBB links.
Aosta is full of Roman Ruins in Italy through the Tunnel with nice views on the road to Aosta or day trip to Montreux where Chateau Chalon Castle is.
