Planning to spend a few days touring Normandy. Will spend two night in Bayeux but what other cities are recommended for nice accommodations and good locations? Thanks
Either Rouen or Honfleur makes a good base for visiting the other one. Mont St-Michel is far enough away that you usually have to stay overnight, which is also the best strategy for seeing it without day-tripping crowds; but it's expensive and on an island, so you wouldn't usually day trip from there. These towns are detailed in Rick's France book, with a smidge of info online here. If you were staying longer and needed more resources, then I would also suggest the Michelin Green Guide for Normandy. The Normandy Tourism web site has some useful links and maps.
For sure Honfleur. Everthing about is wonderful. Picturesue, peaceful , gd sights, great restaurants.
Ck it out.
I like both Honfleur and Rouen but if pressed I'd probably recommend Honfleur.
Hi Kathy,
We just returned from there! Check out Hotel L'Ecrin in Honfleur, it was our favorite of the entire trip and reasonable cost. Honfleur is so lovely! Have a great trip!
