Best airport to fly out of Reims France to US

I will be attending a conference in Reims, France in April and need some help planning my flight home. I will have been in Europe traveling for two months prior to my departure. I have a train pass and have the option of flying out of Amsterdam or Paris. I'd like to make easy connections. Paris seems like it may be more challenging and expensive. I know Amsterdam and can spend the night there before I fly out. What do you think?

It looks like you could take a 6-hr train ride to Amsterdam, then spend the night there if necessary (depending on flight) or you could take a less than 1 hr TGV train directly to CDG airport. Now, depending on flight time out of Paris you may need to spend a night near CDG but probably not if you have an afternoon flight out of CDG. Personally I would fly out of Paris. If it does cost a bit more it seems to be a lot less hassle and that's worth a lot.

EDIT: In general I would prefer AMS to CDG when flying to Europe, especially if flying on from there to somewhere else. It's been about 3 years but I did not find flying out of CDG to be an issue, as long as you give yourself plenty of time pre-flight.

All else being equal, I prefer Amsterdam Schiphol over Paris CDG airport. But Paris is the shortest and closest option, with a direct TGV from Reims to Paris Est station taking only 45 minutes. You can walk for Paris Est to Paris Nord station to catch an RER to the airport or a Thalys train to Amsterdam. Or, following a short regional train ride, direct TGVs run from Champagne-Ardenne station to CDG; total travel time 63 minutes.

Although you have the pass, you will spend an extra $30-35 for a Thalys seat reservation on the Paris-Amsterdam leg (3+ hours), in addition to probably $13 for a TGV reservation. (A route from Reims to Amsterdam without Thalys requires too many connections.)

If Luxembourg airport were the goal, you could also get a direct TGV (3 hours) to that city a couple of times per day from Champagne-Ardenne station.
