Beginning to plan first time to Paris 2026

Hi, I am starting to put together a tentative timeframe and identify where to stay for my two adult kids (son/daughter) and I to stay in Paris next year. I’ve been doing a bit of research here on the forum and have ordered my RS Paris guidebook. It’s going to be a week’s stay, 7 nights, so we were thinking we may also like to take a short day trip or two outside the city. I am trying to decide between late May, early June, maybe the first week, or early September. I wasn’t aware September was so busy there until reading through some earlier posts. As a longtime former teacher, I have the “yay, it’s summer!” vacation timeline kind of built into my DNA, so I think I am leaning toward May or June, but nothing is set yet. Any thoughts on timing would be welcomed.

We would like to find a place that offers three separate singles. Could do two singles and a pull out sofa if the sofa bed was decent- so many we’ve had were awful, so I sometimes hedge on them. Budget around 300~/ nt Euros. A/C.

Just with some brief research from earlier posts on RS forum France I have seen Hotel Diana, Hotel del Seine, Hotel Familia, Hotel des Grandes Écoles Hotel de L’ Empereur offer the Triple room arrangement. I also checked the Henry IV Rive Gauche, which looked lovely, but when I typed in dates, even for various times this year, it messaged that rooms were maxed only for 6 nights. Don’t know if that is a rule. Emailed them and asked, waiting back. Any thoughts on these places? Other options to share?

Thanks in advance to everyone who can share their experiences.

Mustlovedogs, if you can wait a couple of weeks, I've booked a triple room with 3 single beds at the Hotel Left Bank in St. Germain, and will be staying there with my 2 grandkids from April 6-9. I'd be happy to let you know how it goes there. The hotel looks nice, it's in a wonderful location and so far communication has been excellent. It's a little bit over your budget but not much—I'm paying €320 per night.

I forgot to mention that is does have A/C. :-)

It's possible that stays over 6 nights must be booked directly rather than online. Premier Inns in the UK do that—anything over 9 nights must be booked directly with the hotel.

Thanks mardee! I can definitely wait to get your impressions of your hotel- it’s early but you know I like to plan way out lol! That’s a good point about direct booking w the 7 night stay. I’m so excited for you and your grandkids to go together- what a special time for all of you, one to be treasured for a long time!

I know that the Henri IV Rive Gauche has at least one triple that is three single beds -- rooms are small; they are close together, but they are 3 separate beds. It is a hotel we have stayed in when only in Paris for a night or two coming or going. the triple we had long long ago at Hotel des Grande Ecoles had a day bed which was okay for our daughter but would not be okay for an adult. (it also has no AC; we were never so hot in a hotel as in that place in June when it got quite cool in the evening outside but not in our stuffy room with no crossdraft.

If you plan to do a side trip, do it first. You want to be in Paris for the flight back and not wasting your second to last day on the logistics of rushing back to Paris for the flight home.

Janet, thanks for the info on the HdGE. I’ll strike that one off. I’m sure most of the triples are tight, but it will save us a lot to not have to do two separate rooms I think. If I could find a place that had a small single for my son and two singles for my daughter and I for about the same cost as one triple, I would really appreciate that.

We’re actually planning on just doing a hub and spoke type thing and travel out from Paris by train for a long day trip and returning to the city for the the day trips. I prefer doing that with a shorter stay and not having to change places.

Take a look at the Citadines Hotels throughout Paris. They offer "Apartments" with multiple beds.

I vote for May! I’m going the end of Sept this year and was shocked at the hotel rates and how much they drop on Oct 1. Some nights at one of my regular hotels are over 100E more! Last Fall my stay was all in October so I didn’t really notice the difference.

What I have done a time or 2 when booking a 7-night stay is to book a 4-night and a 3-night which usually works. Then I will email the hotel and ask to combine.
