Beer Tasting in Paris

Hi all - My best friend and I will be in Paris for 6 nights late May - early June. My friend is a huge fan of craft beer. Has anyone done a beer tasting in Paris you would recommend? I'm not necessarily looking for a tour but would consider that. We will not have a car, so if it's outside the city, it needs to be accessible by public transportation. Thanks!

Wow, great info Jazz! Wish we would have known this was available on our trips to Paris. At the places we ate for meals, there typically was little for selection of beers, seemed liked often Heineken. My husband ended up drinking wine more often, which is not necessarily a bad thing. If you really desire a good beer, I would suggest using Jazz's suggested websites, because in my opinion, you would have to actively seek out a place with a good beer selection.

But they have every international trend (craft beer is hot) covered in Paris you just have to drill down to what you like

Thanks, Jazz and jules. I'll take a look at those sites. Too bad we will miss the festival.

Go to this place: http://www.caveabulles-paris.fr/en/

It's right behind the Pompidou in central Paris. The store has a great selection of different kinds of beer (a lot from Belgium, Trappist, etc.) The owner speaks english and does provide beer tastings as well as educational information about the styles and techniques.

Thanks for the hoppiness; valuable resource.

I've had beer from Irish brewers at Patrick's Balon Vert, although the family that runs it are not the most charming of Emerald Isle ex-pats. Good selection of craft beers and decent food. There's a mural of a green hot-air balloon of some historic significance on one wall.

The Frog is a chain of English-oriented pubs that puts me inexplicably in mind of TGIF, or in Canada the expanding Trois Brasseurs chain. That company is based in Lille with assorted French locations but no Paris outlets. Not a bad thing, but.....

I did not drink good French beer yet. And I would choose a different venue than Paris to taste beer. But if it happens while I am there and they have also non- French beer why not.
