Beaune hotel

Looking to spend 1 or 2 nights in Beaune, between Lyon and Lausanne. Hubby and I won't have a car so need to be walkable to town center. Hotel advice welcomed! Much is already booked, unfortunately. Thanks.

What type of lodging are you looking for? We stayed at Hotel France close to the train station. Restaurant is excellent and a terrific value. I would call the hotel a "budget" hotel. Quirky. Clean. Great staff. Walking distance to old town (about 5-10 minutes). Please look at other reviews so you have a good idea what the property is like/

EDITED TO ADD: nice included breakfast

Historic Hotel Lion d’Or. Excellent restaurant too.
Several of the WWII leaders stayed here.

We are also looking for suggestions for Beaune for early September. We will have a rental car but we'd like to park it and be able to walk to restaurants and sights within the town.

Stayed in Hotel des Ramparts several years ago and had no complaints. Could easily walk anywhere in town. You might want to check for more recent reviews, but in the absence of bad reviews, we'd stay there again.

@hoof.ghast, Hotel France has or at least had, double check, free parking outside next to the hotel. May have been related to the train station, but it was legal and free. We never used our car in Beaune we walked everywhere from the hotel.

nmdhoff,
In May 2017 we stayed at Au Grand Saint Jean hotel in Beaune. We had free private parking and it was a short walk to the Hospice de Beaune. Nice neighborhood. We had a nice dinner at a restaurant across the street. The price was about $235.00 for two rooms, a double and triple. I don't remember if breakfast was included, but the hotel was clean, well-located, comfortable and very reasonable. I would stay there again. Today it is called Best Western Au Greand Saint Jean, so much may have changed in the interim. Prices still seem reasonable.
(I just checked reviews. The first 10 in May of this year had seven 8s and 9s, one 5, one three and one 1. Yikes! All the bad reviews were from French guests. I didn't go back further. So maybe it isn't so great. Further research needed.)
