I am planning a France trip and need a place near Lyon to stay two nights to break up our drive from St Remy to Amboise . We prefer not to stay in the big city of Lyon. Does anyone have any suggestions? Budget about $120/night for two. A B&B would be perfect. Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the suggestions. Paray-le-Monial looks the right size for the rest stop, A bit further north, but still on the meandering way to Amboise, Did you stay at the Hotel de Ville there or somewhere else? Will seek B&B thru the site recommended.
I spent a night in Cluny. Lovely.
We stayed at this B&B (it's also a winery) in the Beaujolais region: http://www.chambres-dhotes-beaujolais.fr/
Very nice and quiet.
Thanks everyone!
Thanks to Robert for the info about the winery/inn in the Beaujolais area. I checked out the website and it looks like it would make a great one day stop. We are planning to land in Lyon around mid September 2017 and stay 2+ weeks with a car rental and no set agenda. Our goal is to wander around and have fun. We may venture into Italy, possibly Switzerland but don't want to go much further north than Lyon. Any suggestions or tips would be most appreciated as we are just beginning the planning.
Yes, Francella, it's good for a one night stop. It's a very quiet, fairly secluded area, but a short walk up the hill is the village of Oingt, which has some shops and restaurants.
