Does anyone have any knowledge about the Hotel Royal Westminster or the Hotel Le Balmoral in Menton? Or any other beach hotels in Menton? Most of the recent bad reviews I have seen have to do with the hotel breakfast or restaurants in general and I would probably be eating elsewhere anyway.
We'll be there in a few weeks and this may be our only chance for an actual beachfront stay.

I love going to Menton and am there once or twice a year. I’ve never stayed at a hotel though but there are some old beauties.
Just an FYI there is a road running between the beachfront buildings and the beach. Also, the beach isn’t sand, it’s stones. But it all still fun.
Elizabeth. Yes I knew about the street. Actually I think there's a road on each side of the hotels. I'm just hoiping most of the noise comes from the city side. I wish RS had more to say about Menton in his book. But the latest one does recommend the Royal Westminster as one of the "old beauties." I can't remember when or where I originally heard about Menton, but we took the train in for half a day a couple of yeqrs ago and now we we intend to use it as our base for several days in June.
