beaches Cannes or Antibes?

We are heading to France for 2 weeks, first week in Paris, then onto Nice and finally a few days to relax on a beach. I have been researching hotels in Cannes and am not thrilled with most lots of mixed reviews so I switched to Antibes. My question is which area will have the nicer beaches but also easier access to train and buses but also variety of restaurants to choose from. Any recommendations or experience with either place is much appreciated. Really what would be best for first timers.

Best Regards

In Antibes, the better beaches are the ones further away (on a map, plage du ponteil and plage de la salis). The downside is that while they walkable to the old town, they are a bit further away from the train station. The beach in the center is more gravelly and gets so packed. Cannes is more luxe, a bit more expensive and the main beach can get so packed as well, even though they are private they are not as open feeling (imho) as in Antibes. It is a bit more compact in the main areas of La Croisette and the old town, with easy access to the train. They have a different feel and vibe, most definitely, and you'll easily be able to day trip between the two via the train.

Consider also Juan les Pins. Although the architecture of the buildings is less thrilling, the beach is a long stretch of sand. But the train station is very accessible and there are buses to old town Antibes. But it is more of a holiday/beach goer feel to it.
