We'll be in Nice in late September and want to have some beach time. We kind of want to do the whole French Riviera thing at a beach club (lounges, umbrellas, maybe cocktails). The Nice tourism website has info on a lot of the clubs and I wonder if anyone can help me narrow down our options. PS, we don't want to go outside of Nice because our hotel is close to the beach area. We are aware the beaches are pebbles, not sand, and will get cheap water shoes. Thanks for your help!

There are a variety of beache clubs with bars/restaurants to choose from -- a few selections:
Castel -- perhaps the best view down the beach but the "pebbles" here are really the largest, perhaps better called small round boulders. Food is a bit pricier
Le Galet - at centenaire beach -- some of the better food (my last visit for lunch indicated a bit of slippage) and a good value for its location, both on food and chairs
Bocca mar - moderate prices and a more clubby feel, tracking a younger demographic. More of a pan-Med menu.
Le Temps d'un ete - a little more expensive, but a favorite of some friends
La Vela (at Voilier plage) - the smallest pebbles of all. Furthest from the center, down towards the AC Hotel
In general, the pebbles are largest at the Castle Hill (le chateau) eastern end and then get smaller until you get to Voilier and after that start increasing in size. Note a few of the clubs do begin to close in very late September but others remain open, and some are now nearly year round.
