Bayeux to CDG Airport

I'm visiting Bayeux and doing an all day tour - presumably will end around 6 pm. Then I need to make my way back to CDG airport for a flight the next afternoon. My understanding is the train from Bayeux is nearly 4 hours with two changes -- I'll be solo and I', thinking k it might be a good idea to break up the trip.

What's a good mid point between Bayeux and the airport to get to that evening or should I just go all the way to the airport and stay at a local hotel even if I would arrive quite late. I'll be travelling solo if that matters.

Thank you!

There look to be a couple of direct trains departing after 1800h to Paris, taking about 2hr 15 min. Stay in Paris that night, then taxi to the airport the next day.

Yes Above is correct. No change. Have tour drop you off at train station if possible. And you get to Paris you can taxi to airport. Stay there that night for next day departure. Be sure to use official taxi. We did this last.September. We used taxi to our hotel in Paris as we were staying a few days there before flight home. This is a very easy trip for you.

Is there a way to rearrange your trip plan so that you are not in Bayeux, hoping to finish a tour and get dropped off on time to catch one of the last trains the evening before your flight ? And then hoping there are no train problems that impact your getting to Paris in a timely fashion? I would be a nervous Nelly the whole time wondering about whether it was going to work out.

(If you find yourself with train problems that evening, it will be too late to rent a car as a plan B.)

The fact that your flight is afternoon is the only reason I would have even a little hope, but if you literally mean 12:30 for a transatlantic flight, I would still be very anxious. Different if it's a 5 pm flight to Rome (or somewhere else in Europe).

I agree with Kim. There’s a post on Les Frenchies Travel Tips right now from a woman with her three kids on an evening train back to Paris from Normandy. She’s asking what she can do. The train was cancelled mid-route due to the high winds we’re having right now. The family was stuck. She updated, saying they had rented rooms, bought toothbrushes, ante dinner and stayed until this morning. Unexpected things happen.

Train travel between Bayeux and CDG is not efficient. Like the first responder above said, I suggest taking a direct train to Paris and spending the night there and then taking a taxi or train to the airport on my departure day.

There are direct trains from Bayeux to Paris at just over two hours, although there may be more from Caen to Paris. If all you are seeing is two connections and four hours, my guess is you are looking much too far in the future. Wait until a couple of months out and you will see the direct trains.

I think she is looking at something that is showing her

Train Bayeux — Gare St Lazare
Metro Gare st Lazare - Gare du Nord
RER Gare du Nord - CDG Roissy

OP, please clarify whether you are seeing 4 hours to Paris with connections en route, or a connection to CDG inside Paris itself. If the latter, there is a RoissyBus leaving the Paris Opera Garnier to CDG. They typically leave every 20 minutes or so, take about an hour, cost less than 15 Euro, and is an easy way to get to CDG after taking the normal train from Normandy.
