Hi all, I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for sightseeing when traveling by car to Blois from Bayeux. We can leave Bayeux by whenever in the morning but have to be in Blois around 5 pm. I was thinking a side trip to Chartres cathedral and lunch there or maybe even MSM but that might be too ambitious. Would love some thoughts ideas.
Merci!
I'm doing the reverse in May and at present plan on doing MSM. When are you scheduled to travel?
If it will be the only time you are going to visit the region I would made a detour to Le Mont Saint Michel. But speaking for myself with your limited time it would for me in this case be too ambitious, but think not impossible if you prepair well and don’t mind rushing. Question remains if it will be an enjoyable visit this way, however if you can stay the night before the drive to Blois near or closer to MSM instead of Bayeux you will have more room to organize this.
Chartres is certainly worth to consider, but also easy to do as a daytrip from Paris with the train (maybe something for the future?). Le Mans has a stunningly well preserved historical centre and if of interest the race car museum near the entrance of the 24h race trac is to my opinion worth a visit.
We will be traveling in June. Thanks everyone for the insight!
I like older history. When I drove into Loire from the west, I stoped at Fontevraud Abbey and Chinon Fortress, then picked up a bike in Chinon. Both are significantly different than most of the chateaux you see in Loire. They're both relatively close to Blois so you can gauge how you are on time.
