Bayeux to Amboise where to stop?

We are leaving Bayeux tomorrow on our way to Amboise. We were going to Mt St Michel but thinking it is too out of the way? Any stopping points with cute villages instead? Then in Amboise we will have 3 nights. We will bike ride, visit wineries ( any favorites?) Leonardo’s house. Thinking of doing a loop and seeing some villages. Any ideas/suggestions :)

Caen has a fascinating, potentially time consuming, WWII museum (called Memorial de Caen, not limited to the Normandy events), and the remains of a Norman castle. Blois, near Amboise, has one of my favorite chateaux (though not one of the most popular), with several distinct architectural styles and a lot of historical interest. MSM would be off your direct route, and likely very crowded as a day-stop, but you could go for that instead. Assuming you're driving, it should take about four hours, leaving you time for at least one meaningful stop enroute.

Le Mans isn't a village, but if you can spend 3 hours there, it is worthwhile. Beautifully well preserved late medieval city center, with a stunning cathedral.
