Bayeux Tapestry Closing for 2 Years

VISITORS INFORMATION: The Bayeux Tapestry Museum will close its doors to the public, for renovation work, from September 1st 2025. Reopening planned for October 2027. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks for the heads up! We will be arriving the 9th, so very disappointing. Will have to come up with something else to do for the afternoon without a car. :(

When I was in Bayeux back in 2017, the tourist office ran a walking tour. I don't know whether it was every day of the week, though.

You can also use trains or buses to travel east to Deauville/Trouville, Cabourg and even Honfleur.

Nearby Caen took a very heavy hit during the war and doesn't have Bayeux's charm, but it does have several notable sights.
