Bayeux on my birthday...best restaurant choice for a birthday worthy meal?

There on a late June Monday evening. I loved the menu at L'Alcove, but they no longer take reservations and I don't want to chance it. I'm a 60yo solo traveler, so people watching is a plus. Thanks!!! Or...anyone want to join me on my birthday for dinner on June 23rd? LOL. Cheers! -jason

Bumping this up for the OP, on what will be his 1st night in France, after a busy weekend in London.

We had a lovely dinner at La Rapiere , 53 Rue Saint Jean, in Bayeux.

La Rapiere was #1 on my list of suggested restaurants in Bayeux. It didn't work out for us with our timing, but it does get good reviews and accolades on this forum as well. It's two doors down from my favorite Arts & Fleurs shop, which required a daily visit while I was there. That street itself is a good people watching street.

My husband had injured his foot before our arrival I went off to explore the city centre on my own, which meant I could meander through the shops at my own pace. The shopkeepers were all so lovely, friendly and the language barrier didn't stop anyone from a nice neighborly friendliness. The next morning we were up early and walking on the same street. The shopkeepers were sort of gathered; having coffee and conversing with one another before the shops opened. Several of the shop keepers recognized me, and gave me bonjours with tones of familiarity. My husband asked me how everyone knew me! I found Bayeux to be absolutely charming, and I hope you have a wonderful 60th birthday while you are there!

Thank you! Everyone I've spoken with on my FB feed has echoed your sentiments, both about Le Rapiere and how charming a village it is. I'm still hoping L'Alcove can guarantee me a spot, but La Rapiere is HIGH on the list. So looking forward to it, along with D-Day and Mont St Michelle tours while there!
My return rec is if you find yourself in Florence. Best meal of my life (and most everyone who has visited on my advice) was at La Giostra. OMG, so good.
