Has anyone stayed at the Hotel d’Argouges In Bayeux? It appears to be a little further away from the main tourist sites? Is that true? And if so how long does it take to walk to the cathedral area? Thank you in advance.
Did you know you can use Google Maps to check distances? Simply select the place you want to go (cathedral), click on “directions” then input the place you are starting. You will get walking Times, driving times, and public transportation options as well. Very helpful in making decisions such as where to stay and also helpful on-the-ground to plan departure and arrival.
It is a lovely hotel. it is up the hill near a shopping area. The village market is out front of it on Saturday morning and it is great! it probably takes 10 or 15 minutes to walk to the cathedral. It is a very pretty village to walk in.
We’ve stayed there 6-7 times, love it. It’s in the heart of town. Its not on a hill, but the grade of the main street that it’s on is ever so slightly up hill.
The hotel has a long driveway off the main street and two lovely gardens so it is very quiet.
They have flowers everywhere outside. The public rooms are beautiful. The bedrooms are large, bathrooms large, everything’s clean, good beds, wonderful breakfast, free parking.
The owners and staff are wonderful.
It’s located across from the town plaza that has a great outdoor market once (or more) a week.
Just stayed there last month for 5 nights. It is a clean, quiet, and comfortable hotel, with friendly staff and a great breakfast buffet. We walked everywhere in town; the Cathedral was about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, the Bayeux Tapestry about 15 minutes. Also walked to the Battle of Normandy Museum.
Just booked two nights at Hotel d'Argouges for our upcoming trip to Bayeux thanks to all of your wonderful recommendations!! Looks like a lovely property!
bwilliams, you will be very happy there!
One of our all-time favorite hotels. It’s conveniently located for restaurants and shopping, and the staff were helpful in making recommendations . We were fortunate to stay there twice.
We also stayed at this hotel and I found Bayeux and very walkable and beautiful city. Didn't need our car.
