Bayeux by Train

I am little confused by the train system in France … first time visit planned for April.

I am looking to take a direct train from Paris to Bayeux. Do I book with Trainline or SNCF?

What would be the recommendation on how to get from Bayeux to CDG?

Thanks so much.

SNCF will be at least a bit cheaper.

The usual route to Bayeux is through Caen. It looks as if most of the departures offer direct service, with no transfer required. Travel time will be at least 2-1/4 hours. All trains depart from Gare St-Lazare.

There's considerable variation in fares. You may save money by buying the ticket early, but check the fare rules, because you may be locked in to the date and time you specified at the time of purchase.

SNCF runs the trains. Trainline is third party seller. I buy from SNCF.

To get from Bayeux to CDG by train, you go back to Paris St. Lazare, then transfer to either Gare du Nord or Les Halles Chatelet (train, taxi) and then transfer to the RER B to CDG.

Thanks for the quick and helpful responses !

Any idea how much a taxi would cost from St Lazare to CDG? I assume there are taxis available ?

Much appreciated !

Taxi from the right bank is a fixed rate of €55 for up to four people.

We took a taxi to Paris St. Lazare station from CDG and back, and did direct SNCF trains to Bayeux and back. The only caution is you get into CDG like we did early in the morning is that you will have rush hour traffic getting to St. Lazare so allow enough time when you buy train tickets.

We are in Paris now and our train (booked well in advance) to Bayeux was cancelled (Thursday strike day) but was able to rebook for a different time the same day however.

I am concerned about our return to Paris and ultimately CDG on Saturday. In the event that train is canceled, does anyone know of a car service that could drive us from Bayeux to CDG?

Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

Always be in the town of a high stakes departure the day before. Stuff. happens -- you had a train cancelled by a strike. I had a Thalys delayed over 5 hours by a suicide. When you have an expensive flight, don't rely on everything going right.
