Bayeux breakfast options

My wife and I will be in Bayeux for 4 days in mid September. We are staying at the Hotel Dargouges. Are there any decent places to have breakfast near out hotel that might be a bit cheaper and with more variety than the hotel?

Also, can anybody suggest some great restaurants in the area for dinner? Thanks folks Rick

For lunch, I really enjoyed Le Moulin de la Galette. It has a beautiful outdoor seating area along the river and the food was very tasty. I don't remember what I paid for lunch, so I probably found it pretty reasonable, and I probably had a drink. I'm sure it's equally nice for dinner, and it's an easy walk from the cathedral.

Here is the trip advisor site: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187181-d1075945-Reviews-Le_Moulin_De_La_Galette-Bayeux_Calvados_Basse_Normandie_Normandy.html

Enjoy Bayeux! I loved it and wish I had allotted more time there.

If you want a simple croissant or pastry breakfast my favorite in Bayeux is La Reine Mathilde on Rue Saint-Martin. I like stopping in there also for an afternoon coffee if I'm not having breakfast there.

I really enjoyed L'Alchimie in Bayeux. Doubt it is open for breakfast but a great place for dinner for you and your wife. Small, intimate, but very nice and food was great and priced very reasonable. Pretty sure they had a menu posted outside. Great town to just walk the streets and find a place that you like. I never ate in the hotel while there and was never disappointed anywhere I ate.

Richard: We stayed in the same hotel last fall. Their breakfasts are good; however, if you just want something more continental there are sufficient places around the area to get coffee and a croissant. For dinner, I recommend you look up the restaurants for Bayeux on TripAdvisor. We have always had success choosing restaurants based upon the general sense of the reviews--every restaurant seems to have a few outliers, but if the overall impressions are good, then it is probably a safe bet. Another advantage to TripAdvisor reviews is that they are current and reflect recent changes or events that were not present when a guide book was written or when someone like me visited last fall. Last fall, we saw a restaurant with great overall reviews but the most recent two or three days of reviews commented on repairs being done in the restaurant that ruined the experience for those reviewers. So, we went somewhere else. If all else fails, the front desk folks at the hotel will gladly recommend good restaurants for you. Please visit the Bayeux Tapestry while there. Enjoy your trip and be safe.

Rick,

One restaurant I really enjoyed for dinner was Le Pommier. Not cheap but very good!

For breakfast I usually just use the one provided by the hotel, which has always been quite adequate.

I stayed there for 3 nights ( one day we splurged on the breakfast at the hotel...) nothing special.
What I really enjoyed was walking down the main street in the morning and stopping at a bakery for a croissant or sweet pastry and a cup of tea.
There are several excellent bakeries/coffee shops on the main street and on the main square.
