Any recommendations as to things to do or not do on Bastille Day in Lyon? We would love to do as the locals do! Where should we watch the fireworks?
When we lived in the 6ème arrondissement, we would just walk a couple of blocks to Pont de Lattre-de-Tassigny over the Rhône (end of rue Duquesne) and watch the fireworks over the Rhône River, where we had a pretty good view of Fourvière, along with a few hundred other people.
Watching over the Saône River would probably be even better, but at that time of night, convenience ruled our decision-making.
And it's not Bastille day, as you seem to acknowledge in your title. Go with either Fête Nationale or, more simply, le quatorze. The official website for the celebration in the Lyon Métropole is here. There are a number of different activities, depending on your interests.
