Hello,
My husband and I will be in France celebrating my 40th birthday in one short month! We are tying up a few loose ends and have several questions. Maybe some of you may be able to help? Should we stay in Lyon for Bastille Day/ La Fete Nationale or travel to Burgundy? If we stay in Lyon then that will give us only one day in Dijon/ Beaune (Monday), as we are headed to Epernay/ Reims for a champagne tour (Tuesday). Our main concern is that most shops, wineries, markets, cafes will be closed in Dijon/ Beaune due to the holiday. Also, will we be missing out on Bastille celebrations in Lyon that Burgundy will not offer. We prefer small towns and villages to the big city, but fear we won't be able to experience that with the holiday.
Any helpful advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
