We'll be traveling by train from Basel to Paris in mid Summer. Which route is a more scenic route? Basel/Strasbourg/Paris OR Basel/Dijon/Paris?
via Strasbourg runs thru the Rhine Valley-- Black Forest on the right, Vosges Mtns on the left--- somewhat scenic. stopping for a half day in Colmar would make it a memorable journey, also a stop in Strasbourg is worthwhile. Basel is of little touristic value.
Basel is of little touristic value.
Ahem.
It rather depends upon the tourist, wouldn't you think?
Basel is of little touristic value.
Totally speechless!
This is high speed trains both ways, not really scenic. The direct and quicker route is via Dijon (not all trains stop there). Via Strasbourg is longer and require a change.
If you are planning a stopover, then stop in Colmar and/or Strasbourg. The Alsace wine villages are, but they are in the hills, and requires buses or a car.
And Basel is well worth 1-2 days.

from somebody who's never been, perhaps?
I'm a tourist in Basel sometimes - went through yesterday again (Waved to Chris F but didn't see anybody wave back) - and I always find plenty to do...
