We will be flying into the Switzerland side of the Basel-Mulhouse airport, and renting a car on the France side. How long does it take to cross the border within the airport, and what is involved? Will we be going through passport control twice? Thanks!

Not much of a border now - both France and Switzerland are in the Schengen area and border controls are the exception not the rule now.
It's been a few years, so maybe things have changed, but last time I was there, there is a passport control at the Basel-Mulhouse Airport. While Switzerland is a Shengen country, it's not EU, is it?
But given that, it's a small airport and, as I recall, we moved through there fairly quickly.
Thank you for your replies. Most of my experience has been transferring through the airport in Amsterdam, where there always seemed to be huge lines at passport control. The airport map looks like this is a much smaller airport, so maybe it will not take too long. Happy travels, all!
