We will be in Provence 1 week prior to taking a river cruise in 2015. We will have a car but would prefer to have one home base. We will leave for the river cruise from Arles, and would like to see the villages in the hill country and also visit some wineries and villages in the Cote du Rhone area. We would also like to have a base with plenty of good restaurants. Is this possible or should be stay in 2 different places over the week? What would be your suggestion for a base?
