Barging in Burgundy

We stayed at the Abbaye de la Bussiere outside Dijon right near the canal and sat in the rain and watched a boat pass through a lock. It looks beautiful, I would highly recommend.

You might try asking some hotel concierges in the area or use the magic google.

That part of France is also good driving country, especially if you want to do the vineyard tours outside Beaune that Rick recommends. Unless you plan to tipple, in which case you need to make other arrangements.
