I am planning a trip from Barcelona to Provence in September. I have 19 days and plan to begin the trip driving from Barcelona to St. Remy, spend 5 nights there visiting Avignon, Arles and other villages. My idea is to reserve a hotel in Aix en Provence for 5 more nights. On my way back to Barcelona I wonder if it makes sense to visit Carcassone.
please, if you have some time I would appreciate any tips on how to use the rest of the time. My wife is not too interested in visiting a beach, so we are not planning to visit the French Riviera and would prefer to concentrate in the country side.
I read that some people recommend to take the train to Provence and rent a car in France instead of renting the car in Barcelona. We have return tickets from DC to Barcelona.
