I am thinking about an 8 night trip from Barcelona to Nice / Monaco.
Looking at 3 Nights Barcelona ~ 1 Night Montpellier ~ 2 Nights Aix-en-Provence ~ 2 Nights Nice in May 2016.
On the way, we plan pit stops in Carcassonne, Pont du Gard, Arles, St. Tropez and Cannes. Last but not least the Formula 1 race is on the agenda. Any recommendations for sites / wineries, etc, that we shouldn't miss??

An extra day would make this trip less rushed and more comprehensive...
Day 1-3 Barcelona (3 nts)
Day 4 Carcassonne via Girona+Figueres
Day 5 Nimes (2 nts) via Montpellier+Pont du Gard
Day 6 Day trip to Avignon+Arles
Day 7 St Tropez via Aix en Provence
Day 8 Nice (2 nts) via Cannes+Antibes

I think your plan is quite ambitous for 8 nights.and to incl. the race also. This is a great distance which most of it i did last yr by train/ car. In 2 wks. Pls realize you will be covering alot of miles in so few days.
Pls e should u wish an abbreviated routing with train from barcelona to france, of course provence is best by car.
