Band of Brothers Tour Normandy

What company have you used to book tours of the beaches and surrounding areas of interest related to WWII Band of Brothers?

Were you satisfied with their tour?

How far in advance did you need to book it as we are going in May? Thanks

Per the advice of several people here on the forum we booked the Overlord Tours full day Band of Brothers tour during our own trip to Normandy in '24. We were not disappointed. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and engaged throughout the long day. I originally thought we'd follow up and revisit some of the sites on our own with our car but it turned out to be unnecessary - they covered more ground in a day than I could have done independently in several, and we had plenty of time at the individual sites.
An added bonus for us was a stop at Brecourt Manor - Overlord is apparently the of the few companies permitted access by the current owners of the property.

We didn't do a specific Band of Brothers tour, but we had a full day with Dale Booth, which was fantastic! We were lucky we got him though, as the one day we had for it was the one day he was available. The rest of his calendar was full. So I would say book as soon as you know which day of your trip you want a tour regardless of who you go with.

Dale is the best….the 2 of us had him all to ourselves for our day tour and he was wonderful! This was on our second trip to Normandy after using Overlord on our first visit with a group that saw the American spots.

Dale Booth was our guide for the Band of Brothers tour a number of years ago. He gave us such an insightful and engaging tour that we went back the following year to do the British and Canadian Normandy tours. He’s done the Rick Steves Normandy section as a local guide on and off for years. He would be my first choice but other posters seem to have had a great experience with Overlord Tours.

Keep in mind that "Band of Brothers" was but one unit of a very many involved in D-day. If you are a fan of the book or the TV series, also remember that D-day was only one of many battles in which they fought. I have a healthy respect for and interest in the U.S. paratrooper operations in WWII (I've parachuted into Normandy for the D-day anniversary a few times as well). That being said, if you are interested in the Battle of Normandy, I would suggest you broaden your search for a more comprehensive tour.

Also, depending on when in May you are visiting, you may be bumping into the huge influx of tourists around the D-day anniversary. If so I would book as soon as you have your dates set. I usually book my lodging over a year in advance.

Overlord offers several different tours, including one especially for those interested in "Band of Brothers". I don't know that each of its tours runs every day; that's something I'd want to find out right away, since it might affect your itinerary. If you will have only one day in the area, that will call for quite an early booking, I think, no matter which company you choose to use.

I hate to sound like a broken record but in the interest of providing an alternate opinion and (one would hope) helping the original poster avoid disappointment, I would not recommend Dale Booth at all.

He was the guide for an afternoon on a tour I took some time ago, and he was terrible. Almost comically superficial in his presentation of events. The clichés coming out of his mouth made it an eye rolling event. And I am by no means a D-Day and liberation expert, though I know much more about it now that I've moved to Normandie.

Others have had positive experiences. I did not. So, be aware that, if he's good sometimes, my experience indicates he's not good at others.

Caveat emptor.

We have not used Dale Booth. But we can recommend Overlord. In July we are taking our second tour with them…this time from the cruise port of La Havre with our 3 generational family. We all have an interest in history…and grandkids who love reading/studying about it. Overlord guides I trust will do a good job making it relatable to them. I remember reading good reviews about their “band of brothers” tour….however have not done that. We chose a more generalized version to what happened. We just scheduled this week and know they are filling up.

We used Boy Eysbroek and highly highly recommend him if available. I was skeptical. My family is extremely well read on WWII and I did not want a superficial tour. We could not have been more pleased. We went to the main sites, as expected, but went to several lesser known sites and significant landmarks that were not populated at all, but were incredibly impactful and interesting. Boy narrated pleasantly along the way and offered many stories and insights, several from D-Day soldiers he had befriended throughout the years. It was incredible and unforgettable.

The best guides book very quickly. I would reach out ASAP.
