baggage rules

I have booked tickets on SCNF for train trips within France. I cannot find the baggage rules for carry-ons.
Does anyone have that information, or experience with French trains?

Here is the link to the rules on the SNCF website. Do you know if you are on the TGV (fast trains), the Ouigo (cheap trains) or the Intercities trains?

Editing to add: You do need to handle your luggage yourself getting on and off plus through the station. How much luggage do you have?

Since you load and unload your own luggage, I have never seen a limit on luggage size. Obviously the overhead racks are only suitable for carry on size luggage and day bags. IMO, the big issue is weight. Can you easily carry your luggage up the three steep stairs into the train and put your luggage in the storage bins?

SCNF web clearly says you can't print your tickets at the station but can show the QR code from your cell. They say they will send the ticket 4 days before departure, so if you can print them before arriving at the station is OK too

Yes, most of my tickets said you can't print tickets and should present the QR code, however that was not the case for one of our journeys (and it said that as much...no QR code, print tickets at station kiosk.) Buying online works, but having the SNCF app gives you easy access to your QR codes, and all of your routes.

Keep in mind that if you are boarding or de-boarding at a stop along the train's route, you will have limited time to get on or off the train. So it isn't just what you can physically get on or off board, but also how quickly you can do so. Unless you are getting on at the point of origin, and getting off at the last stop, I would plan on one step—not going back and forth from the platform to the train even once.

Note that per Pam's link, luggage weight is new and being phased in so, it might or might not apply to your particular train. Or trains. I wonder if stations are really prepared to start weighing suitcases in this era of few employees.

I believe AMTRAK has a weight policy as well, which may or may not be enforced.
