We're having to take up to 6 suitcases with us to Paris, landing in CDG. We're in our let 60's and not able to carry a lot so we're hoping there will be baggage carts at the airport when we arrive (we have help in Phx when we leave). Our question is, is help available getting into the shuttle buses once we've passed thru customs? Our carryons will be light enough for us to manage and the rest of the stuff will be in rolling cases.
Yes, there are luggage carts at CDG and they are free. With that much luggage, you really need to take a taxi. Just push the cart to the closest taxi rank. There will be a one euro charge for each piece of luggage after the first one that goes into the trunk. Do not accept a ride from anyone who approaches you inside the airport. At the taxi rank, someone will be there to help you get a taxi large enough to handle your luggage. A taxi will cost a lot more than a shuttle bus (about 50€ into central Paris), but will take you right to your hotel, and no, I doubt there would be anyone to help you get your bags on the shuttle.PS...I'm assuming you have a very good reason for taking that much luggage, so I'm not going to suggest you reconsider.
Pamela: If you are checking your luggage you will pick it up at the baggage area. There will be free carts right at the baggage area. You might need two since they aren't that big. You will then be able to roll them out past custom controls into the main part of the airport and then to the outside to get to a taxi, etc. Hope that helps. European airports make it pretty easy for us.
If you have any weight at all, use the elevators or they'll get away from you on the darn ramps.
