B&B Recommendations for Blois and Amboise

I've researched several chambre d'hotes websites for moderately-priced, in-town B&B accommodations that seem to be in quite short supply or availability in Blois and Amboise. That is, those under €100 a night and within a kilometer or less walk into town. I'll be on a bicycle trip in July and August and, thus, will have limited flexibility once I've arrived at the end of my cycling day.

What specific B&Bs or small, family-run hotels in those towns (as well as other towns in the Loire Valley - between Blois and Nantes - have you stayed in and would recommend that I look into? Please also provide the name of the town so I can check it out on the map.

Addendum: I've biked all over Europe for years (July-October) without making advance B&B reservations and have not had any problems getting a room for the night after knocking on just a few doors. However, with many French citizens on vacation from mid- to late summer, will I be able to continue to do so in the Loire Valley, Brittany and Normandy? Or, should I depend more on the local TI offices to help out as I go? I don't have a cell phone, so calling ahead is not a viable option.

Many thanks!

In Amboise, I recommend La Grange Chambres. (It's in Rick's book.) We stayed there in the summer and had a delightful time! Large, clean room with a comfortable bed. Charming hostess. Great prices. Pretty garden to enjoy breakfast in during nice weather.

David,
Here’s another vote for La Grange Chambres! My daughter and I enjoyed out stay at this charming b&b when we toured the Loire Valley.

Consider having a delicious meal at Chez Bruno, right across from the Amboise Castle. Make sure you make reservations though as it’s a popular place.

Have a wonderful trip!

Christine and Priscilla,

Thanks for the referral! The web address in Rick's book is broken, but I did find the B&B on a site called Samedi Midi and sent the owners an inquiry.

It has been a zillion years, but twice while cycling I have stayed at the Chateau des Tertres in Onzain which is between Blois and Amboise.

Stephen,

So it is. Similar names. Looks quite nice and within my pay grade. https://www.chateau-tertres.com/en/

I've now secured a room at L'Iris des Marais in Amboise for two nights.

Thanks to all for your suggestions!
