Avis Car Rental CDG

We are arriving in about 48 hrs into CDG.

I have made a reservation for a car with AVIS and I have carefully read the price breakdown. NOWHERE on the site does it mention a deposit requirement at pickup, and when asking a supervisor here in the states if he could verify whether one was required or not, he could not.

I do not want to arrive at the counter to find I need to tie up a large amount of money in deposits when I pick up the car.

Can anyone verify whether I should expect to have to do this or not?

Thanks In Advance!

You may be asked to provide a deposit if you decline the additional (and expensive) insurance options. I always have a separate annual policy that covers all car rentals throughout Europe and/or the US which negates the requirement for the rental firms insurance and usually costs around £30. The rental agencies don't like it though so they typically impose a high refundable deposit.

I've also had to provide two credit cards to Avis in Newcastle when renting a reasonably high end car.

I try to avoid certain rental brands in Europe--preferring to avoid franchise operations.
Because they may have the big familiar name doesn't they run like they do in the US.
I usually use Hertz or go through Autoeurope.com.

The amount of the deposit, which is really just a hold on your credit card, will depend on what insurance you've taken, if any. In all the years I've rented cars in France and never taken CDW "insurance," I don't think that the deposit hold has been more than $1,000 or so. On my rental starting next week, from Hertz, I've already paid for full, no deductible, coverage, and the deposit is supposed to be just for a full tank of gas.

I will be renting from Enterprise at CDG in late June. I plan to use my Amex Platinum card that does provide rental car insurance. Will that be sufficient?
