Dear travellers,
A friend and I are staying in Avignon in Mid-November for 4 nights. No car. I have visited once for a part of a day. I love architecture, wine and food. Any tips on favourite places to eat, shop or winery to visit are appreciated.

The daily (except Monday) food market can work up your appetite; it closes in early afternoon. There used to be a little ferry that carried passengers for free to the island across from the Palace giving nice views of the popes' residence and the bridge celebrated in the children's song. The tourist board in the centre of the walled city is very helpful and could suggest half-day trips outside the city since four days is a little much for Avignon itself.
