Avignon Center to Aix en Provence Center?

Cannot seem to find a definitive answer on what the best and most economical means of transport is to get from Avignon to Aix en Provence, bus or train? I will be traveling via the TGV from Lyon to Avignon via the TGV and not sure if I could connect back on the train and continue on the Aix or if that would require a separate ticket, also with the bus connections that need to happen from the TGV stations, would it just be better to take the bus from Avignon to Aix center to center? Any advise on how best to do this with the least amount of stress would be appreciated.

Thank you! The bus definitely looks like the easier of the two options, however when looking at the schedule it looks like one leaves Avignon at 8:00 am and the next one not until 11:00 am, which is quite a gap. I was hoping to leave at around 9 to 10 am, so if I can't make the schedule work I will need to look into the shuttle/TGV options from the center. Not sure if there would be an option of purchasing a Geneva to Aix TGV ticket with a stopover in Avignon or if the segments would need to be booked separately.

Because TGV tickets require a specific seat reservation you won't be able to book one through ticket with some kind of hop-on/off option. You would need to book two tickets for each leg in a specific seat for each one. This also means that you need to be on that specific train so be sure you have your timing and your transfers right.

Avignon center to TGV station is served by a 2x hour 6 minute train between stations and is clearly marked. They are a couple of dollars and you can book them ahead of time for the day and direction of travel or just buy them at the station for the 6 minute trip.

The Avignon bus station is near the train station underneath the Ibis hotel to the left as of station as you approach the station from town.

Ultimately the bus is generally faster than TGV and the connections so double check the arrival times compared to TGV arrival with the added transfers. Even if the departure time is later than you wanted the net arrival time in Aix center might be pretty close. It would be simpler and probably cheaper you're the only one who knows your schedule and preferences.

I agree that taking the bus will be best, as Aix has an out of town TGV station as well as Avignon and it's quite a lengthy bus ride in itself. There are no trains directly from the Avignon town station to the Aix town station.

Yes, bus definitely seems the better option if I can make the schedule work. I will be staying several nights in Avignon and then several nights when traveling on to Aix. I will actually be staying in Villeneuve Lez Avignon, so will need to get the local bus from the train/bus station in Avignon to get there. I will be staying in the center of Aix. Thanks for all of the info, this is exactly what I needed.
