Auvers and ??

We will be renting a car for a day to visit Auvers. Besides Giverney, any other recommendations on places nearby to visit with a car? Lunch recommendations? Also, any considerations (crowds, traffic, etc) for choosing Friday instead of Sat/Sun? Thank you!

In case you drive from Auvers sur Oise to Giverny I would avoid the outskirts of Paris. Instead follow the D922 or N184 to the A15 freeway in Gercy-Pontoise and turn of to direction Rouen. After some 10km the A15 becomes D14 and after another 10km take exit 17 to Dieppe / Gisors / Avernes and follow signs to Guiry-en-Vexin at the first roundabout. Guiry is one of a series of lovely villages in a national park named Vexin. From there I drove several years back further to Wy-Dit-Joli-Village, Arties, Audetour, Vétheuil and along the Seine to very cute La Roche-Guyon. And finally from there to Giverny.

There is more to explore there, but this route is anyway what I can recommend. The Vexin region has stil kept it’s innocence and that is most of the time I am looking for making trips. Further Ambleville and Domaine de Villarceaux are worthwile a stop or a visit too, free entrance for the latter and very charming.
