Auvergne Hiking Itinerary

I'd appreciate tips on planning a 7 day day hiking trip in the Auvergne for April 2020.

We are thinking of a clockwise tour starting from Thiers, heading west (Orcival?), then south towards Murat, then down to Laguiole, over to Polignac.

We hike 6-8 miles a day and like to stay in very local accommodations eating the local specialties.

Certainly the Auvergne is off the beaten track without a promotional budget.

Open to all suggestions! Thanks.

You should look up the organization Chemins des Grandes Randonnée. There are thousands of kilometers of marked trails. I hiked the volcanoes in the Auvergne, village to village one extended weekend, many, many years ago. Every region, département, and town has trails, but the GRs are the big daddy if them all.

Sorry can't link for you right now.

Thanks all! We are thinking now, given the weather, of hiking south of Le Puy or in the mountains of Provence.
